First things first, the iPhone 5S has received a massive price cut! Why? Well because it’s now more than 2 years old and has been superseded by the far superior iPhone 6S. But even with its massive decline in price, is it still worth the purchase?
The flagship mobile phones of the major players in the industry have shifted towards large screens. The norm nowadays is having a 5-inch screen or bigger. The iPhone 5S has a 4-inch screen vibrant, high-def, lag free screen which no other Android phone within that size could match. The iPhone 5S reigns supreme in the 4-inch territory. So if you’re considering to grab a small phone, the iPhone 5S would fit the bill. Of course, the design is timeless so it won’t matter even if the device is already 2 years old.
The iPhone 5s uses A7 chip (64-bit) of Apple, which is powerful enough for the average user. Having a 64-bit processor means that it would be compatible with a lot of newer games and apps. However, the iPhone 5S isn’t as fast and smooth as the iPhone 6. Its RAM is the main issue especially if you’re browsing the net with lots of tabs open or chatting with a lot of friends on Facebook messenger.
The 8 Megapixel camera iSight camera is something that holds up quite well up to today’s standards. It has a large sensor and wide ƒ/2.2 aperture with True Tone flash. Burst mode is also available and the ever-popular slo-mo video capturing capabilities.
There’s a bit of a downside when it comes to support. Apple has openly admitted that the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch devices are the ones that they would support. This means that third-party accessory makers will concentrate on making cases, speaker docks, and other devices for those sizes.
If you’re on a tight budget, is the iPhone 5S the right phone for you? It’s a resounding yes! Even though it’s an “old” phone (2 years old), it has aged pretty well. It’s amazing how Apple can pack so many features in such a small phone. The iPhone 5S is highly recommended even in 2016. 🙂
